Wake Up Your Eyes

For a lot of us, sleep is a luxury. Whether it’s staying up late to study or getting up early for work, our eyes always show signs or tiredness. One morning you may wake up from a 3 hour sleep (maybe less) and your eyes look sallow and dark, and the bags under your eyes are deep and puffy and you have to be at work in 30 minutes. Trust me. Been there done that but still walked out of the house looking alive! Here are some tips to tricking others (and yourself) you got a good night’s rest:

Depuff your eyes

When you don’t get a good nights sleep, your under bags become much more prominent and your eyelids may be puffy. The first step is to combat the puffiness by applying something cool on your eyes for a couple of minutes. This will slow down blood circulation and calm your eye area. Take either an ice cube, cold spoon, or sliced cucumbers and place over for the targets area and leave it on for a couple of minutes. There are even a couple eye masks you can buy that help tighten and firm the eye area to get rid of those bags. But most of those eye masks will take anywhere from 15-30 minutes. If you have time in your morning, that is the most effective solution but if not, a cold compress will do the trick.

Apply an eye cream or serum

You want to make sure your eye area is hydrated and protected before you go in with the concealer or corrector to cover it.

Use a color corrector or a concealer (or both)

Color correcting is huge. It’s the process of neutralizing discoloration or color concerns of the skin instead of cloaking it with men’s concealer or foundation. If you aren’t familiar with how color correcting works or how to choose the right match, click here for that post. If that’s the case, concealer may be the easier route. Choose a shade that’s one shade lighter than your skin tone. Doing this will help brighten the under area and prevent and dark, red, or purplish tones from showing through the concealer.

And there you have it! Three simple steps to make yourself look awake and ready to face the day! Good luck!
